A huge fire broke out in the industrial zone of Algeria's Sonatrach Gas Production Company (GNL2) in Oran.
Television said the fire was followed by several explosions but there were no reports of casualties or damage, Reuters reported.
Algerian Energy Minister Mohamed Arqab announced last May that Algeria had made an important gas discovery in the southwestern state of Tindouf, which could help boost Algeria's exports and maintain its market share abroad.
Algeria is a major supplier of gas to Europe, but the rise in domestic consumption and the lack of increased production in recent years posed a threat to export volumes, according to "Reuters."
