How Russia prevented a losing war with Turkey and Israel and turned it into a trump card for it

Blogs-

We will speak today about the foreign policy of the State of Russia in dealing with the serious problems that would have led to the outbreak of fierce wars in the case of a military response, not political, for example with Israel and Turkey.

Many people have asked why Russia did not respond militarily to Turkey when the latter dropped a Russian Su-24 fighter and an Israeli El-20 Russian aircraft.

Political geography is very complex and serious at the same time, so when a country makes decisions, it relies on dozens of research institutes, intelligence services, confidential information, and sometimes tips from allies.

Where leaders look at things from another perspective that we do not see and do not notice (ie the general public), where they see the whole picture, which brings together dozens and even hundreds of different factors.

You should know that the eye-to-eye principle has long been discontinued, as other, more effective methods of responding to certain things are used.

For this reason, Russia did not respond to the loss of its pilots and aircraft by military means, ie, it did not shoot down Turkish and Israeli aircraft, did not choose the military means to respond to it.

The plane crash "Su-24" Russian by the Turkish side in Syria

If we talk about the incident of the Turkish fighter jet landing for its Russian Su-24 in November of 2015, theoretically, Russia would have to respond militarily, for example, dropping a Turkish fighter with a price of $ 30-50 million.

But what would have happened then? In the event of a military confrontation between Russia and the Turks, the losses were much greater in all parties. The goal of the Russian military operation in Syria (the elimination of the terrorist organization) was thus thwarted by the withdrawal of Russian forces from there because of the inability to fight in a region far from Russian territory with a NATO member, On support and supply.

After all this, the organization of the terrorist "Da'ash" had regained its strength and began to spread in Syrian territory. It could have occupied strategic places in Syria, talked about things that were unthinkable and began to spread in other countries and even reach Russia.

If Russia did not insist on reaching its final goal (the restoration of Syrian territory and the elimination of the "terrorist" organization), at least the goal was indefinitely postponed, and large investments and huge sacrifices were required.

Therefore, Russia did not act indiscriminately and hit itself, by responding militarily to the incident of dropping the fighter by the Turkish side.

Instead, Russia imposed restrictions on the work of Turkish companies, the travel of tourists, and the export of goods from Turkey. According to some reports, Ankara lost 1,000 times more than it would have lost if Russia dropped a Turkish fighter at a price of up to $ 50 million. After Russian decisions, it lost about $ 50 billion to $ 60 billion.

Thanks to this policy, nine months after the incident, Turkey became an ally of Russia, after the latter provided intelligence to the coup attempt. At that time, it received no assistance from NATO, which was prepared by Turkey as its direct strategic ally.

Russia has turned Turkey from a potential enemy into a negotiating ally. We can see huge projects between the two countries, starting with the Turkish project, building a nuclear plant and ending with the S-400 air defense deal.

The plane crash "IL-20" Russian by Israel in Syria

The situation here is slightly different: the Russian EL-20 was already shot down, but with Syrian anti-aircraft, because Israeli planes used its Russian counterparts as cover and escape the impasse.

I can not absolve Israel of all responsibility. If they informed the Russian side of the attacks a day before (not a minute ago), there would be no incident or problem.

I can only say that this incident was difficult on the Russian side, where 15 soldiers were killed in the crash, and all options were available on the table. Many people blamed Russia for not responding militarily to this incident, but what happened if that happened?

Will become a direct confrontation between Russia (the few Russian forces in Syria) and one of the strongest armies in the Middle East. It is very difficult to calculate the losses resulting from this confrontation on both sides.

More importantly, once again, Russia could not achieve its goal in Syria (the elimination of terrorists and the restoration of Syrian territory). That is precisely why there was no military response from the Russian side.

In addition, Russia has provided the Syrian government with a more advanced air defense system than the S-300, which has hit Israel with tension. The system has reduced the likelihood of frequent errors in Syrian air defense systems.

In addition, Russia supplied Iran with the same S-300 system, which was feared by Israel and the United States.

Thus, Russia has used a wise foreign policy in which it has managed to turn the potential enemy into a direct ally, which is shared by many joint ventures.
