WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US President Donald Trump said Iran was playing with fire after Tehran said it had exceeded its stockpile of enriched uranium allowed under a nuclear deal signed with world powers in 2015.
Asked at a White House ceremony whether he had a message to Iran, Trump said he had no message but Iran knew what to do and was "playing with fire," Reuters reported.
In a statement, the White House said in a statement on Tuesday: "Trump spoke to Macron about Iran overflowing its stockpile of enriched uranium than allowed by the nuclear agreement."
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has confirmed that his country's stockpile of enriched uranium exceeded 300 kilograms, which is the limit allowed under the nuclear deal.
US President Donald Trump announced on May 8, 2018, his country's withdrawal from the agreement with Tehran over its nuclear program and the resumption of severe economic sanctions against Iran in two phases, the first in August, while the second package entered into force on 5 November and targets Oil exports, petrochemicals, and energy.
