WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US astronaut Donald Trump said on Friday that US astronauts would visit the moon again soon, and then head to Mars, where their first task would be to install the American flag.
Trump's statement came during a speech in downtown Washington during the American Independence Day.
"Nearly 50 years ago, in July 1969, astronauts landed for the first time on the moon and installed the American flag there," Trump said.
"The United States will not stand here, we will go to Mars to put another flag of the United States there and we will organize periodic flights to that planet," he said.
"We will return to the Moon very soon, and we will soon install the American flag on Mars," Trump concluded.
