Iraqi Prime Minister issued a statement on the decision of FIFA

Breaking news-

Iraqi Prime Minister's Office issued a statement on FIFA's decision to re-evaluate the lifting of the ban on Iraqi stadiums.

Abdul-Mahdi stressed the right of his country to hold football matches at home and among his fans, against the backdrop of refusing to allow the Iraqi team to play at home in the Asian qualifying for the World Cup to be held in Qatar in 2022.

As a delegation from the International Football Federation (FIFA) plans to visit Baghdad on Friday, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi stressed "the right of Iraq natural and legitimate to hold matches at home and among its fans."

He instructed "all government agencies to provide all necessary requirements for the success of this hosting and to provide the necessary support and facilities required to the delegation of the International Federation (FIFA), which will visit Iraq tomorrow to enable them to accomplish the tasks assigned to them," according to the statement.

He pointed out that "the Prime Minister is following these developments and calls on the sports masses and all media to stand by the government institutions in the success of their relentless endeavors in this regard."

On March 16, 2018, FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced the lifting of the ban on three Iraqi stadiums in the provinces of Erbil, Karbala and Basra.

The football ban on Iraqi stadiums lasted for nearly three decades due to the unstable security situation in the country.
