ANKARA – Turkey has defended and will continue to defend its rights and the people of Cyprus, Turkish Defense Minister Khalsavi Akar said, calling on everyone not to test his country's strength in this regard.
Akar said during a visit to the frigate accompanying the Turkish exploration ship "Yaoz", that Turkey will not turn a blind eye to any reality in Cyprus and the eastern Mediterranean and Aegean, and will not allow decisions against the people of Turkey and Turkish Cyprus, according to "Anatolia."
"Turkey has defended and will continue to defend its rights and the people of Turkish Cyprus, and we call for no one to test our strength," he said.
"No one expects the Turkish Cypriot people and the Turkish state and people to remain onlookers as they search, explore and extract gas and oil and make use of those resources," he added.
Akar stressed that the Turkish armed forces strengthen their strength as they cleansed from the "Gulen" terrorist organization, pointing out that this emerged whether operations or maneuvers land, sea or air.
Turkey sent two ships to explore for gas on both sides of the island. One of the vessels is in waters considered by Cyprus and the European Union to be part of the island's exclusive economic zone, while the other is in Cypriot territorial waters.
