The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Monday that Iran's low-enriched uranium (LEU) stockpile exceeded the maximum allowed under the nuclear deal.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano has confirmed that Iran has exceeded its 300-kilogram low-enriched uranium reserve, IAEA spokesman Frederick Dahl said Monday.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif confirmed media reports that the country's low-enriched uranium (LEU) reserves exceeded 300 kg, the amount stipulated in the nuclear deal.

Zarif said in response to a question by Esna that Tehran had exceeded its 300 kg stockpile. "According to what we have already said, Tehran has surpassed this percentage, according to what we have already said clearly, that what we do and act on is based on our own rights."

Asked whether America might impose sanctions on Europe, he said: "That's their problem. They have to solve their problem."

For his part, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Moussaoui said that Europe should accelerate its efforts to save the nuclear agreement.

Mousavi said that Iran's steps to reduce its obligations under the nuclear deal "can be reversed."

Tehran has also warned the Europeans that it will take the second step by cutting its commitments under the nuclear deal if the INSTEX mechanism does not enter into force before July 7.

The Iranian news agency Fars quoted an "informed source" Monday as saying that Iran's 3.67 enriched uranium stockpile exceeded the 300 kg level.

"The inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), after weighing them last Wednesday, again weighed the enriched materials produced by Iran, which exceeded the limit of 300 kg," the source told IRNA.
