Kuwait's Supreme Nationality Commission issued a decision on Saturday to withdraw Kuwaiti nationality from 59 people.
The official newspaper "Kuwait Today" published the decisions of the Supreme Committee for the realization of nationality, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Qabas".
The decisions included the withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality from 59 men and women in accordance with articles 9, 10 and 11 of the Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 on the Kuwaiti Nationality Law and its amendments.
Article 9 of the Act stipulates that the revocation of Kuwaiti nationality for a foreign wife married to a Kuwaiti woman is not carried out at the end of the marriage contract unless she recovers her original nationality or acquires another nationality.
Article 10 states that a Kuwaiti woman married to a foreigner shall not lose her Kuwaiti nationality unless she obtains the nationality of her husband upon her request.
Article 11 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law states that a Kuwaiti loses his nationality if he is naturalized by a foreign nationality, without losing his nationality to his Kuwaiti wife, as long as she does not acquire the nationality of her foreign husband.
