Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov expressed Russia's confidence in the ability of Venezuelan authorities headed by President Nicolas Maduro to overcome the difficulties in the country, adding that the strategic partnership between Moscow and Caracas will not change.
"With hostile forces trying to interfere in the country's internal affairs (Venezuela), this event (the NAM meeting) showed a high degree of solidarity," Ryabkov told reporters on the sidelines of a conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.
"For our part, we have shown that the strategic partnership between Russia and Venezuela will not change."
"We are firmly convinced that Maduro's legitimate government will be able to cope with the difficulties," the Russian deputy foreign minister said. "The government has Russia's full support."
Ryabkov will visit Venezuela on July 20-22 to attend a conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The crisis in Venezuela has escalated since Jan. 23, after Guido, president of the country's National Assembly, declared himself president of the country, in contrast to last year's election, in which the current president, Nicolas Maduro, won.
The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was founded in September 1961 with the participation of 120 countries, as well as 17 countries and 10 international organizations with observer status.
