
The family of former Libyan Prime Minister al-Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi, the government of national accord, demanded the implementation of the decision to release him for deteriorating health.

He continued: "We call on the head of the support mission in Libya and all humanitarian organizations to move urgently to pressure the parties concerned in the Libyan government to implement the decision to release him to receive appropriate treatment outside Libya, where it is not possible."
The statement pointed out that "humanitarian reasons and critical health situation and human rights principles necessitate the need to move immediately to save his life and we hope to be happy to meet to complete the rest of his life amid his family and grandchildren."
Mahmoudi, Libya's last prime minister, took office in 2005, leaving him during the "February 17 revolution" that ousted former Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
Al-Mahmoudi was charged with corruption and other crimes. A Libyan court in Tripoli on July 28, 2015 sentenced him to death by firing squad in the case in which he also accused the son of late President Saif al-Islam Gaddafi.
The Ministry of Justice of the National Reconciliation Government decided to release Mahmoudi on July 20, on the recommendation of the Medical Committee.
