Istanbul's municipal elections ended with a heavy defeat for Erdogan, who twice tried to win, but stumbled in front of the choices of aspiring citizens. Istanbul is the starting point for Erdogan, through which he began his political career with victories and finally brought him to the Turkish presidency.
