Little details are available so far. The ambulance crews were told that 11 people had been "shot down" after shooting at the annual Gilroy Garelik Festival in Gilroy, south of San Jose, according to Reuters.
Video footage of the festival's social media showed the festival's fans wobbling in various directions, while a loud bang could be heard in the background, according to Fox News.
A woman's voice was heard in the passage as she said, "What's going on?" "Who's shooting at the Garlik Festival?"
The Gillroy Garelik Festival, founded in 1979, includes food, drinks, live shows and cooking competitions. The festival says volunteers are hosting it and describes itself as the biggest summer food show in the world.
