Russia lifts partial trade embargo on Ukraine

Moscow is ready to normalize relations with Ukraine in the eyes of Ukrainian opposition.

A Ukrainian opponent said that Russia had partially lifted the trade embargo on Ukraine, allowing the transfer of goods from Ukraine through Russian territory.

Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the Opposition for Life party, told reporters that the issue was resolved after meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

According to the media, quoting the Ukrainian opposition that in addition to reducing gas prices, the meeting discussed the restoration of economic relations and the resumption of the transfer of Ukrainian goods through the territory of Russia.

He considered the Ukrainian opposition that this means Moscow's readiness to normalize relations with Kiev.

It should be noted that on 24 June the Russian government changed its decision on banning the importation of goods from Ukraine.

Relations between Russia and Ukraine deteriorated after a coup in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev in 2014. New Ukrainian authority banned all forms of cooperation with Russia. Russia was forced to implement its trade embargo on Ukraine, which acceded to the US embargo on Russia.
