For the first time in the framework of the Fifth International Military Technical Forum "Armia-2019", the Russian and foreign public were presented with the new Bantseer-SM air defense system, which is an updated version of Bantseer-S1.
It is a deep update of the Bantseer-S1 tested in real combat conditions in Syria and the development of the fully updated version will be completed in 2021, according to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shweigo.

During the first two days of the Fifth Technical Military Forum "Armia-2019", which is usually held on the outskirts of Moscow, more than 50 thousand representatives of the Russian defense industry, government clients, scientists and experts participated. 120 delegations from other countries also attended the Forum. They were all able to look at models and systems already known for weapons and military equipment, as well as developments in the Russian defense industry, most notably anti-aircraft missile systems.
Among the major innovations that emerged on the first two days of the forum, which opened on June 25, are the modern air defense systems S-350 "Vitez" and "Bantser-SM". According to the defense minister, work will be completed on the establishment of a new anti-aircraft system S-350 Vitez with high firepower, which should replace the S-300 systems in 2019. At the same time, air defense systems The new Bantseer-SM will protect the facilities of military and civilian sites, as well as cover Russia's promising long-range air defense systems, including S-500 air defense systems, Prometheus.

Earlier, information emerged that the new Russian system would receive a new anti-aircraft missile two times faster than the missile in the Bantseer-S1 – about 3000 m / s. At the same time, the maximum firing range of the system is increased to 40 kilometers, making it closer to the combat capabilities of medium-range missile defense complexes, for example, the Russian air defense system will increase from 36 to 75 kilometers . He had written on the podium at the "Jeremiah-2019" forum that the system was capable of striking targets at a distance of up to 40 kilometers and at a height of up to 15 kilometers. In this case, the target speed must not exceed 2000 m / s.
