The Unilateral Declared People's Representative of the People's Republic of Donetsk, at the Joint Monitoring and Coordination Center for the Ceasefire System in Donbass, said on Sunday that the cease-fire regime in Donbass is applied along the line of contact in the Republic.
"As of 0030 (coinciding with Moscow time), no violations were recorded along the line of contact in areas under the control of the Popular Defense Units of the Republic," the spokesman said.
"The ceasefire regime is now respected."
On Wednesday, the contact group for the settlement in eastern Ukraine held one of the most fruitful meetings in Minsk and agreed on a new summer truce in Donbass, starting on 21 July, and on preparations for a broad exchange of prisoners and the repair of the bridge in Stanica Lhanska – A few passes through the seam line. The authorities of the People's Republic of Lugansk declared their readiness to comply with the new Armistice Agreement in Donbass.
In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities began a military operation against the unilaterally declared inhabitants of the two republics of Donetsk and Luhansk in protest of the coup d'état in Ukraine in February of the same year. According to the latest United Nations statistics, more than 10,000 civilians have been killed in this conflict.
The question of settlement of the situation in the Donbass region is being considered within the framework of the Group of Communications, which meets in Minsk, and has agreed on three documents setting out steps to reduce the escalation of the crisis. However, the clashes continue from time to time, despite the signed armistice agreements.
