Gunmen on Sunday set fire to two oil wells in Marib province, northeast of Yemen.
Cairo – .. A source in the local authority in the province of Marib told "." that gunmen, belonging to the Shaalan in Obeida, fired on the field of Asaad full oil in the Safer region east of Marib, against the backdrop of financial claims to the company, which led to a fire in two wells.
He added that the firefighters managed to extinguish the fire in one of them, while efforts continue in the other well.
According to the source, the army intensified its guard on Safer area to protect it from further sabotage.
The Yemeni oil ministry had previously announced its intention to work to increase oil production to 110 thousand barrels per day and export 75 thousand barrels of oil and the production and export of liquefied natural gas during the current year. Yemen's oil production has been affected by the war since 2015 between an Arab alliance led by Saudi Arabia and Ansar Allah (the Houthis), which has taken control of the capital Sana'a and several parts of the country from the grip of the government backed by rival factions.
