According to the UAE News Agency (WAM), noting that Saudi Arabia is working to provide amenities for pilgrims, especially the third expansion project of the Holy Mosque, launched by King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, within the vision of the Kingdom 2030.

The first expansion of the campus was during the reign of Omar ibn al-Khattab, which added an area of ​​560 square meters, where the area at the opening of Mecca only 1490 square meters, and continued the expansion since then.

During the reign of King Abdul Aziz Al Saud, the Kingdom established a private institution called the Haram Board of Directors, which oversees the expansion.

Saudi Arabia's total expenditures since the reign of King Abdulaziz, the founder to date, are estimated at $ 200 billion, and this expansion is estimated to more than double to the existing area of ​​the Grand Mosque.

She pointed out, "WAM" that the Prophet's Mosque doubled hundreds of times, where the area at the foundation was 1050 square meters, in the first year of migration, noting that the first expansion was in 7 AH, 628 AD.

During the reign of Omar ibn al-Khattab, the mosque was first expanded, and the expansions continued until the reign of King Abdul Aziz, which became an area of ​​16326 square meters and accommodated an additional 28 thousand worshipers on the pre-existing capacity.

During the reign of King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, the third Saudi expansion took place to accommodate nearly 700 thousand worshipers, and then the largest expansion took place in the Prophet's Mosque under the reign of the late King Abdullah, through which he added 143 thousand square meters in the outer courtyards, so that the capacity of the Prophet's Mosque will rise to 1.6 million. visitor.

Since the founding of Saudi Arabia, expenditures on the Prophet's Mosque amount to $ 90 billion by 2030.

The Saudi Passport Authority announced the arrival of more than 1.8 million pilgrims and need to the Kingdom until 5 Dhu al-Hijjah, according to the newspaper "citizen" Saudi Arabia.

The number of pilgrims served by Saudi Arabia during the past 50 years reached (95,853,017) pilgrims, as the number of pilgrims exceeded the two million barrier of 19 seasons, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
