Crimean political scientist Denis Baturin said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan does not recognize Crimea as he plays the "old game" in pursuit of his electoral goals.

The head of the Vatan Party, Dogo Berensk, said that the Turkish president should recognize the Crimean Russian if Ankara considers itself a strategic partner of Moscow.
"It is an old game for Erdogan," Baturin told .. Crimea became a Russian region after the March 2014 referendum, with 96.77 percent of voters in Crimea and 95.6 percent of Sevastopol voting to join Russia. The Crimean authorities held this referendum after the coup in Ukraine in February 2014.
Ukraine continues to consider Crimea as a temporary occupied territory.
