A cabinet meeting chaired by Lebanese President Michel Aoun will be held Saturday at the Baabda presidential palace. All ministers except Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil will attend the meeting.
The Lebanese Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, announced on Friday the end of the political crisis in the country after a reconciliation session in Baabda Presidential Palace in the presence of various Lebanese political leaders.
The dispute between the Jumblatt and Arslan parties has paralyzed the government since a shooting incident at the end of June, and reconciliation between them could pave the way for a cabinet meeting, although no date has been set.
After the repercussions of the crisis and the interruption of government meetings, the United States entered the crisis line, following a statement by the US Embassy on Wednesday, which stated that the shooting incident in Lebanon should be dealt with in a way that achieves justice "without provoking politically motivated tensions."
Two accomplices of Lebanese Minister of State for Displaced Affairs Saleh al-Ghareeb were killed in the June 30 shooting, which sparked a political conflict between Druze leader Walid Jumblatt and his Christian and Druze allies allied with Hezbollah. The target was Minister Gebran Bassil, not Saleh al-Gharib.
